In the past 3 years I have attended Wayne State University, I have been able to actively participate in both serving our Campus as well as our Community. Through Community Service Chair and now President of the Indian Students Association, I was able to head/put together numerous activities such as: Bone Marrow Drives as a rep for the National Marrow Donor Program, an annual "Detroit Drive" held in the Student Center which collects clothing, food, and other essentials to donate to the Detroit Rescue Mission around the Thanksgiving time, as well as Be the Change which is an annual event in October created to recruit students all over campus for a day long commitment to pre-arranged community service sites in the area. Sikhcess, a non profit volunteer organization, also has allowed me to participate in their numerous “Feed the Homeless Campaigns” where food packages are assembled and distributed to various shelters in the greater Metro Detroit area. As PR and now Vice President on the Honors Students Association Board, we have been able to get involved at the Gleaners Community Food Bank, Greening of Detroit, Up Till Dawn, and numerous other outreach programs in the city of Detroit. The experiences have been priceless and I will continue to serve with honor my campus and city for as long as I possibly can.
